The Dragon Boat Festival is one of the most traditional and meaningful festivals in China. It usually falls on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month. This year, I had a wonderful time celebrating it with my family.
In the morning, we went to the market to buy some fresh bamboo leaves and glutinous rice. We then spent the afternoon wrapping zongzi together. My parents taught me how to fold the leaves into a perfect triangle shape and fill them with sticky rice and delicious fillings like red bean paste or pork. It was so much fun to learn this skill while spending quality time with my loved ones.
Later that evening, we gathered around the table to enjoy our homemade zongzi. The aroma of the cooked rice filled the air, making everyone’s mouth water. After dinner, we watched dragon boat races on TV. The excitement of the competition made us cheer loudly for our favorite teams.
This festival not only allows us to savor traditional food but also strengthens family bonds. I feel grateful for such a warm and memorable celebration. Happy Dragon Boat Festival!
