One sunny morning, a group of monkeys were playing by the river. They saw a bright moon in the sky and thought it was very beautiful.
“Look! There’s a big moon in the water!” shouted one monkey.
The monkeys all ran to the river and looked down. They saw the reflection of the moon in the water. It looked just like the real one.
“Let’s get it!” said another monkey.
They tried to reach the moon with their hands, but they couldn’t touch it. Then they got an idea. “Maybe we can use a rope!”
They found a long rope and tied one end to a tree. Then they climbed down the rope to get the moon.
But when they reached the water, they only saw the moon’s reflection again. The real moon was still in the sky.
“Why can’t we catch it?” asked the little monkey.
“Because it’s not really there,” said the old monkey. “It’s just a reflection.”
The monkeys laughed and went back to play. They learned that sometimes things are not what they seem.
